All eyes are on the tropics, as Hurricane Matthew churns toward South Carolina. Most schools and government offices have closed, and officials are urging coastal residents to evacuate in advance of the storm.

Although tropical storms and hurricanes are common in South Carolina, they are still dangerous, potentially deadly occurrences. Please review your family’s emergency plan, stock up on supplies and consider your evacuation routes. Remember, most hurricane-related deaths are due to flooding. If you experience flooding, avoid the floodwaters! It only takes 12 inches of rushing water to wash away a vehicle.

Also, surviving the storm is everyone’s business. Please be sure to check on your eldery and infirm neighbors!

Here are some helpful links to help you and your family prepare and stay safe through the storm!
