Meet John Aylor

John W. Aylor is a personal injury attorney in Joye Law Firm’s North Charleston office. He focuses his practice on auto accidents, premises liability accidents, and other types of personal injury claims.

As the name would imply, the process of a personal injury case can be just that – personal. Decisions made about health and financial recuperation during this time will have lasting impacts on your future and your family’s future.  That’s why it is important to select an attorney that you can fully trust to guide you through the process. With years of experience helping accident victims, John knows what it takes to be that lawyer.

"I would like to thank Alice Jackson, and John Aylor for fantastic service , and very informative and helpful. Couldn't ask for better service."
-Charlene, Actual Client

When he first meets with prospective clients, John is sensitive to the fact that these folks are often hurting and confused. Their lives have been disrupted by a serious injury and they are worried about having to miss work. They are feeling stress. Bills are mounting. An insurance company may have contacted them, and they are worried about having to deal with the insurer.

John’s Approach When Meeting a Client

“The first thing I like to do is say, ‘Take a breath. We’re going to answer all your questions,’” John says. “Take a step back, take a breath, and let me explain how this is going to work.”

John tries to empathize with what the person is experiencing and let them know that Joye Law Firm will be there for them and help them find answers.

“That first conversation is very important,” he says. “By the end of the meeting, I can already hear the change in their voice.”

What Is the Most Satisfying Aspect of Being a Personal Injury Lawyer?

Despite the challenges, John says he prefers representing people rather than representing businesses.

“That personal relationship is a lot more rewarding and encouraging,” he says. “At the end of the day when you are able to get the client a recovery that satisfies them and takes care of their bills, that’s great.”

John’s Background and Professional Activities

John grew up in Spartanburg and graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina in 2011. He and his wife met while they were undergraduates.

He graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2014. While in law school, he served as a law clerk at the Dorchester County Solicitor’s Office.

John then relocated to Nevada to join a law firm that served as corporate counsel to homeowners’ associations in Nevada and California. He is licensed to practice law in Nevada and California in addition to South Carolina. While there, he served on the Board of Directors for the Community Associations Institute, which is the leading authority for governance, education, and management for the community association industry.

During this time, John began taking on personal injury cases and quickly realized he’d found his “niche.” Meanwhile, John and his wife began contemplating a move back east to be closer to home.

By the time he and his wife returned to South Carolina, he had chosen to concentrate his law practice on personal injury law and opted to join Joye Law Firm.

In his free time, John enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and family German Shepherd. He also enjoys running and completed his first marathon a couple of years ago. “I enjoy challenges,” he says. He also is a fan of USC Gamecocks sports teams.
