What Is the Most Satisfying Aspect of Being a Personal Injury Lawyer?
Despite the challenges, John says he prefers representing people rather than representing businesses.
“That personal relationship is a lot more rewarding and encouraging,” he says. “At the end of the day when you are able to get the client a recovery that satisfies them and takes care of their bills, that’s great.”
John’s Background and Professional Activities
John grew up in Spartanburg and graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina in 2011. He and his wife met while they were undergraduates.
He graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2014. While in law school, he served as a law clerk at the Dorchester County Solicitor’s Office.
John then relocated to Nevada to join a law firm that served as corporate counsel to homeowners’ associations in Nevada and California. He is licensed to practice law in Nevada and California in addition to South Carolina. While there, he served on the Board of Directors for Community Associations Institute, which is the leading authority for governance, education, and management for the community association industry.
During this time, John began taking on personal injury cases and quickly realized he’d found his “niche.” Meanwhile, John and his wife began contemplating a move back east to be closer to home.
By the time he and his wife returned to South Carolina, he had chosen to concentrate his law practice on personal injury law and opted to join Joye Law Firm.
In his free time, John enjoys spending time with his wife and their German Shepherd dog. He also enjoys running and completed his first marathon a couple of years ago. “I enjoy challenges,” he says. He also is a fan of USC Gamecocks sports teams.
