Columbia is the capital city of South Carolina. It is filled with historic landmarks and cultural significance. It is the first U.S. city named after Christopher Columbus, the Italian explorer credited with discovering the Americas. With a population just under 130,000, Columbia is the second-largest city in South Carolina.
Columbia is home to the University of South Carolina, one of the most respected universities in the country, as well as the U.S. army base Fort Jackson, which the army uses for basic combat training. The McEntire Joint National Guard Base is located just outside the city. Besides being a seat of state government and great college town, Columbia is a vibrant city with much to see and do.

- Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park. Sometimes the best attractions are free, and that’s certainly true of Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park. With over 45 acres of riverside park and stunning views of the river, this park is great for walking, biking, picnicking, and taking in the beautiful vistas.
- The South Carolina State Museum. Along the banks of the Congaree River in downtown Columbia, the State Museum boasts four floors of rotating exhibits. As the largest museum in the state, you can learn about art, cultural and natural history, and science and technology.
COLUMBIA COURT SYSTEM
