Patrick Sarsfield is an attorney in Joye Law Firm’s Myrtle Beach office. He handles personal injury and workers’ compensation case. He represents people who have been injured by the negligence of others and people injured on the job. He also handles premises liability cases, such as slip and fall accidents.
Patrick focuses first on making sure that the client is receiving all the necessary medical treatment and being seen medical specialists if needed.
“Only then do we discuss which direction we are going to go with their case – for instance, legal actions such as a personal injury lawsuit or settlement,” he says. “If we are discussing a workers’ compensation case, I make sure both sides are playing by the rules.”
When his clients leave the initial meeting, Patrick wants them to feel assured that they are in competent legal hands and they have a law firm that will fight aggressively for their best interests.
“I want them to know I will be their zealous advocate and work to get them the best possible result,” he says.
Patrick says that most of the time, it is in clients’ best interests to avoid the courtroom.
“I tell them I will do my very best to have their case resolved before it comes to litigation,” he says. “At the same time, I let them know I am not afraid to go to court if we are unable to work out a settlement.
One of the most satisfying parts of the job: helping people get their lives back together by getting them the results and justice they are after.
“I have learned from my clients that the law is always evolving in the fields of personal injury and workers’ comp, and those changes keep me on my toes,” he says.
