At Joye Law Firm, we take pride in serving our community with honesty, professionalism, and compassion. That’s why it’s deeply troubling to learn that cybercriminals are impersonating our firm, attempting to scam unsuspecting individuals.
We want to be very clear:
Joye Law Firm will NEVER ask for money up front—whether you’re a client or a participant in one of our giveaway contests.
If someone contacts you claiming to represent our firm and demands money for legal services, case processing, as a condition for winning a contest, or any other reason, do not be fooled; it is a scam.
How These Scams Work
Cyber criminals are using sophisticated methods to deceive people, including:
- Phishing Emails or Texts: Messages that appear to be from our firm, using fake email addresses or phone numbers, asking you to click a link or send payment.
- Phone Calls from Fake Representatives: Scammers may impersonate attorneys or staff, using high-pressure tactics to get you to pay or provide personal information.
- Fraudulent Social Media Accounts: Fake pages promoting giveaways or pretending to be our official firm profile.
- Online Giveaway Scams: Some individuals have been contacted by criminals claiming they’ve won a prize or contest hosted by our firm, but must “pay a fee” to claim it. This is not us. Joye Law Firm would never request money from a contest winner.
What We Will NEVER Do
- We will never ask for upfront payments from firm clients—we work on a contingency basis.
- We will never request payment or banking information for you to claim a giveaway prize.
- We will never pressure or threaten you into sending money.
- We will never communicate through unofficial or unverified accounts.
How to Protect Yourself
- Verify Before You Act: If you receive a message that seems suspicious, contact us directly using our verified contact information from our official website.
- Don’t Click or Reply: Never click on links or respond to messages asking for money or personal data.
- Report It: Let us know if you’ve been contacted. We’re working with the authorities to stop these scams.
- Look for Red Flags: Poor grammar, misspellings, urgent language, unofficial email addresses, and requests for gift cards or wire transfers are all warning signs.
