Military Appreciation Days | Myrtle Beach, SC

The city of Myrtle Beach honors and celebrates military personnel, past and present, in a month-long series of activities and events honoring our nation’s heroes. US Army veteran Noah Galloway is the 2016 Grand Marshal for the Military Appreciation Days Parade on Saturday, May 28. The parade route travels Howard Avenue and Farrow Parkway. The Family Picnic starts at 12:00 PM immediately following the parade at the Grand Park, Market Common. Other events include the M.O.A.A. Grand Strand Golf Tournament on May 26th at the Heritage Golf Course.

Fireworks at Broadway at the Beach | Myrtle Beach, SC

After a sun packed day of beach and sand, end the night with a fireworks display to keep the lights shining bright over the Myrtle Beach sky. Watch the sound and light display of the fireworks as they light up the sky over Lake Broadway at Myrtle Beach. Held every Tuesday and Friday through the summer season, some Saturday and Sunday shows have also been added to the show schedule.

Sushi Smackdown | Myrtle Beach, SC

Local sushi masters compete against a team of traveling sushi masters for the title of Best Sushi of Myrtle Beach. Hosted by Gino Mazziani, the show host of The Ultimate Sushi Smackdown, Myrtle Beach is just one stop on the seven state competition tour.

If the local sushi master beats the traveling sushi masters team, the winner receives a $5,000 prize and the top title. Over 20 dishes are sampled, including starters, sushi, and dessert. The audience watches the competition and gets to sample the food, ultimately casting a vote for his or her favorite chef. The ticket price includes event admission, food, two beers and two shots of sake.

Thundering and Light Featuring All That! | Myrtle Beach, SC

The nationally renowned clogging group All That! will present original choreography in the Gilmore Productions presentation of Thunder and LightThunder and Light is a live dance, laser light, and magic show that will also feature illusionists, The Wagsters. All That! have been featured multiple times on America’s Got Talent and at The Carolina Opry for years. The laser show is the same show that toured with Madonna and Pink Floyd.

Myrtle Beach Bike Week Spring Rally | Myrtle Beach, SC

Between May 13 and May 22, 2016, the 77th Annual Bike Week Spring Rally, also known as “Harley Week,” will take place in South Carolina. A motorcycle riding event, attracting riders all over the country, there are rides, tours, racing and entertainment planned for the annual event. Riders can participate in daily events or take part in all 10 days of riding, activities, and fun. The riding route is at The Grand Strand stretch of beaches from North Myrtle Beach to Georgetown, South Carolina. Last year almost 400,000 bikers attended the week-long event.

Zookeeper for a Day | Myrtle Beach, SC

Tweens and up can spend the day working as a Zookeeper for the Day at Brookgreen Gardens. Guests learn the good, the bad, and the ugly about working at Brookgreen’s Lowcountry Zoo. They will feed, clean, care, and prepare meals for the animals at the zoo, interacting with different animal groups and species as they learn about the zoo’s inhabitants.

SpringFest on the Boardwalk | Myrtle Beach, SC

The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk presents the SpringFest on the Boardwalk concert series each spring. The One Bad Apple band closes out the 2016 SpringFest on the Boardwalk concert series this Saturday at the I Love Sugar Stage at Plyler Park. The May Music Saturdays how show begins at 7:00 PM and lasts three hours. The event is free and open to all ages.

Other events include the DJ and Karaoke by Jesse James at Plyler Park from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the I Love Sugar stage. Also for kidz, visit the Kidz Zone at the Old Myrtle Beach Pavillion site with inflatables, train rides, the rock wall, and other games between 4:00 and 9:00 PM.

Murder Mystery Dinner | Myrtle Beach, SC

Now in its 11th year, Murder Mystery Productions puts on an interactive murder mystery dinner show where the audience is both witness and crime solver while he or she eats a three course dinner at the House of Blues restaurant in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Actors are interspersed with diners in this comedic whodunit with prizes awarded to the best answers. Appropriate for people ages 13 and up, test your mystery solving skills by detecting clues and spotting the red herrings before you become the suspect.
