Man Faces Charges after Fatal Orangeburg Crash that Left Two Dead, Others Injured

Description of Accident: Tragedy struck South Carolina State University after an accident claimed the lives of a student and recent graduate, and sent 3 others to the hospital. According to Highway Patrol, a state trooper saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on the US Hwy 21 Bypass. When a traffic stop was attempted, the driver sped off. Moments later, the crash occurred near the intersection of Whittaker Parkway (U.S. 178) and Russell Street (State 33) involving the same vehicle. Two were killed in the wreck, while three others were taken to a local hospital. Charges for the at-fault driver include two counts of failure to stop for a blue light resulting in death, one count of failure to stop for blue light resulting in great bodily injury, two counts of felony DUI involving death, as well as other offenses.
