Description of Accident: A Florence County deputy tragically lost his life following a head-on collision that occurred Tuesday afternoon on Olanta Highway near Blackwells Farm Road. The 24-year-old deputy was driving north on Olanta Highway when his patrol vehicle collided with a GMC SUV traveling in the opposite direction. Both drivers sustained injuries in the crash and were transported to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, the deputy later succumbed to his injuries. The deputy had been serving with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office since October 2023.
