Description of Accident: A bride leaving her wedding reception was killed in a car crash when a woman driving under the influence and at over twice the speed limit rear-ended the golf cart the bride and groom were riding in. The incident occurred on Folly Beach in South Carolina, where the speed limit is 25 mph, but data retrieved from the driver’s rental car indicated that she was driving at 65 mph and only briefly hit the brakes before the collision. The groom was injured and taken to hospital where he was treated for a brain injury and numerous broken bones. Two others in the golf cart were also injured. The driver is charged with reckless vehicular homicide and three counts of driving under the influence causing death. A GoFundMe page has been set up to pay for the bride’s funeral and the groom’s medical bills.
