South Carolina law requires every policy to include uninsured-motorist (UM) coverage of at least $25,000 per person / $50,000 per crash. If the at-fault driver has no insurance or not enough, your lawyer can file a UM or UIM claim against your own policy (and any household policies) to cover the shortfall, then negotiate or litigate for the maximum available.
