Meet Drake Thompson

I’m Drake Thompson, a Greenville personal injury and workers’ compensation attorney at Joye Law Firm Injury Lawyers. I have the privilege of helping injured South Carolinians through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Whether you’re dealing with the aftermath of a serious accident or trying to recover after a workplace injury, I believe you deserve an advocate who will stand beside you every step of the way.

My approach to practicing law is centered on teamwork, guidance, and empathy. When clients come to me, they are facing some of the darkest and most uncertain moments of their lives. It is important to me that they know they are not going through it alone. I work closely with my clients to guide them through the legal process, answer questions, and fight for the compensation and benefits they need to move forward. As a litigator, I help people navigate a range of personal injury and workers’ compensation cases involving car accidents, workplace illnesses and injuries, and other serious claims throughout South Carolina.

What Inspired You to Become an Attorney

I always joke that I knew I would become a lawyer because of all the arguments I had with my parents growing up. The truth is that I have always been fascinated by the law and history and how both shape people’s lives and communities. That interest stayed with me throughout school and ultimately led me to pursue a legal career where I could directly help others during difficult times.

Before joining Joye Law Firm Injury Lawyers, I spent time serving in the Solicitor’s Office where I worked on high-stakes cases involving drugs, violence, and murder. That experience gave me a firsthand understanding of how devastating life-changing events can be for victims and their families. It also reinforced the importance of compassion, preparation, and standing up for people when they need it most.

What Is Your Client Service Philosophy?

I believe the attorney-client relationship should feel like a partnership. My role is to be a team player for my clients by providing guidance, support, and strong representation throughout their case. Legal matters can feel overwhelming, especially when someone is injured, unable to work, or worried about their future. I strive to make the process as clear and manageable as possible while fighting for the best possible outcome.

I also believe empathy is essential in this work. People are often coming to us with a problem, and it is our job to solve it with patience, understanding, and respect. I want my clients to feel heard and confident that someone is advocating for them both inside and outside the courtroom.
