2020 Joye HBCU Scholarship Program

Joye Law Firm is offering one student attending a Historically Black College or University the opportunity to win a college scholarship to help further their education.

Our firm will offer one $2,000 scholarship to a student in South Carolina who plans to attend or is attending a Historically Black College or University. The selection of the recipient is based on their essay entry, school activities, positions of leadership, special honors and awards, community involvement, academic performance, and professional pursuits.



Applicants are required to submit the following materials along with their 2020 online application form below

  1. A current high school or college transcript; and
  2. An essay entry based on one of the following prompts:
    • TBD

  3. Nominate a favorite teacher who has inspired your creativity for a teacher prize; and
  4. A current photo (suitable for publication)


Creative entries may be but are not limited to an essay, video, infographic, song, poem, etc. Files must be in one of the following formats (pdf, doc, jpg, png, mv4, avi, wav, mp3).

Please limit written entries to 600 words and audio/video submissions to two minutes.

How to Win

Our selection committee will review your packet with a particular focus on your creative entry along with your community involvement.

2020 APPLICATION DEADLINE: The deadline for entries is December 1st.

We intend to “publish” the winning creative entry and disseminate it to leaders throughout South Carolina. The scholarship recipient will be notified no later than December 15th, 2020.
