Description of Accident: A 24-year-old man from Georgia has died from injuries sustained in a pedestrian crash on the Gervais Street Bridge. The man was walking on the eastbound sidewalk when an SUV left the roadway and drove onto the sidewalk, striking him. The victim was dragged by the SUV before being thrown over the bridge’s guardrail and plummeting onto the bank of the Congaree River below. The man was transported for medical treatment but tragically succumbed to his injuries several days later.
