The event was sponsored by the Charleston County Bar Association, led by President Mark Joye. Cocky’s Reading Express is the University of South Carolina’s literacy outreach program that travels to Title I schools across South Carolina, encouraging kids to embrace reading through fun, interactive, events.
Our team read the book Hector and Hummingbird. Attorney Joye played the grumpy bear, Hector, Attorney Howell took on the role of the pesky Hummingbird, and Attorney Johnson narrated the story, making the experience unforgettable for Chicora’s first and second-graders. With Cocky leading the way, every child left with a new book and a love for reading—one Gamecock at a time!
