Description of Accident: A 19-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle early Monday morning in the West Ashley area of Charleston, S.C. The collision occurred around 2:14 a.m. near the intersection of Sam Rittenberg Boulevard and Dupont Road. Authorities reported that the pedestrian was walking in the roadway when he was hit by a southbound vehicle. The driver, a 25-year-old man, remained at the scene and has since been charged with first-offense DUI. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim died from his injuries at the scene. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
