Personal Injury Law Firm Hopes to Bring Attention to Roadway Safety by Awarding Six College Scholarships

The Joye Law Firm scholarship contest is open to all graduating seniors in South Carolina, who plan to attend a four-year institution. Applicants must produce a creative entry that brings awareness to the dangers of drunk and distracted driving. Six winners will each receive $2,000.

2/13/17 – CHARLESTON, SC – The Joye Law Firm, a personal injury law firm with offices throughout South Carolina, is seeking applicants for their annual college scholarship contest. Started in 2008, the Joye Law Firm Scholarship Contest will award a $2,000 scholarship to six graduating South Carolina seniors who are attending a four-year college or university.

To enter the competition, students must complete an application, submit a high school transcript (either official or unofficial) and submit a creative entry that raises awareness about the dangers of drunk or distracted driving.  The creative entry can take any form, including essay, poem, painting, poster, video, audio recording, web page or other form of creative expression.  Application packets and additional details have been sent to local schools and are also available at Joye Law Firm’s website. Students may apply online.

“Each year, we are blown away by the talent and creativity of our applicants,” said Joye Law Firm’s Managing Partner, Attorney Ken Harrell.

The scholarship contest was started in 2008.  Since that time, the firm has awarded over $150,000 in college scholarships to deserving students across that state of South Carolina.

“We know that students respect their peers. So, this is an opportunity for seniors to take a stand and show younger students that drunk driving and distracted driving are not cool and not acceptable,” added Harrell, “That message can save lives.”

To be considered for this year’s contest, all applications must be submitted or post-marked by April 1, 2017. Judges will select the scholarship winners based on the quality of the creative entry, as well as the student’s school activities, positions of leadership, special honors and awards, community involvement, academic performance, and professional pursuits. Winners will be notified prior to June 15, 2017 and will be honored at a scholarship banquet.
