Graduating Senior Scholarship Program
Provided by the Joye Law Firm
Joye Law Firm awards four $2,500 scholarships to graduating seniors every year, who have shown scholastic aptitude, leadership, and a commitment to the community. The scholarships are offered to seniors at Summerville High School, West Ashley High School, Hanahan High School, and Goose Creek High School. There will be one winner from each graduating class at the participating high schools.
To qualify, seniors should complete all application materials found in the scholarship packet along with a current high school transcript and a signed, typewritten essay and return them to Joye Law Firm no later than April 1, 2008.
The Essay Topic
To qualify for Joye Law Firm’s scholarship, graduating seniors must submit signed, typewritten essays of 350 to 500 words that address the following topic:
One of your fellow classmates, who was driving home from a party, has died in a car crash. Two other classmates were in the car with him and were severely injured but survived. Police say that all three had been drinking alcohol and that the driver was speeding and lost control of the car.
You are determined to make sure this never happens to another friend. What could you and your friends have done to prevent this tragedy? What can we, as a community, do to get the message across that drinking and driving KILLS?
Where to Find Application Packets
Application packets can be obtained from the guidance counselors at each school. The guidance counselor at each school is as follows:
