In the United States, an estimated 38% of menopausal women use hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to relieve the symptoms of menopause. Drugs such as Prempro â , Premarin â , estrogen, and progestin have been used to treat hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and night sweats. On July 9, 2002, a report from a Women’s Health Initiative study was released which indicated that taking drugs combining estrogen and progestin significantly increased the risks of heart disease, stroke, breast cancer, gallbladder cancer, ovarian cancer, and blood clots for women. Following the study, the Food and Drug Administration encouraged manufacturers of combination hormones to update their labels to include new warnings about these risks. If you have taken a long-term combination HRT drug and suffered one of the health problems listed above, please call our law firm at (843) 746-2360. We are currently assisting women with investigations into whether they may be entitled to a monetary recovery against the manufacturer of the drugs.

Please note that these cases are being pursued solely as products liability claims and no medical malpractice allegations are being made. Also, do not stop taking any medications without first consulting your doctor. If you are currently using a HRT drug, you should discuss any concerns about possible health risks with your healthcare provider.
