South Carolina nursing home abuse investigated by unit

The Sun News reported the state of South Carolina created an agency called Law Enforcement Divisions Vulnerable Adults Investigative Unit to investigate abuse, neglect, exploitation, and death in government nursing homes in the state of South Carolina.

The unit was created in 2007 and it has received more than 2500 reports and complaints of possible South Carolina nursing home abuse and suspicious deaths.

There are other agencies that are responsible for investigating possible South Carolina nursing home abuse and deaths at places which are not owned by the government.

South Carolina nursing home closed due to lack of medication

A nursing home’s license has been revoked by the state following an order issued by an administrative law judge for South Carolina nursing home neglect, according to The State.

The judge’s order stems from an inspection concerning South Carolina nursing home neglect and abuse conducted by South Carolina’s Department of Health and Environmental Control.

Inspectors found that the facility lacked medication for several of its patients, causing South Carolina nursing home neglect and abuse. After the inspection, the South Carolina Department ordered an emergency suspension of the nursing facility.
